Cleanfax Online Award

Award June 2009

The winner this month is Paul Moskal of Airloom Oriental Rug Washing Company, Tucson, AZ. Paul will receive a chemical prize package worth $500.

Paul describes this particular job: "This wool rug came from an Italian restaurant and it had not been washed in more than five years. It was packed with grease which made my air dusting tool ineffective. So I pretreated the rug with a heavy degreaser and placed it in my wash pit overnight. In the morning, the rug was much more pliable and ready to be washed. I used a special Oriental rug washing brush on a scrubber with a mild alkaline cleaner and scrubbed the front and back under water in the wash pit. As the grease separated from the rug, I could see the design and the colors became visible."
